More Than a Workout
How One Thursday Bootcamp Celebrated Progress, Discipline, and Community
Thursday Bootcamp Recap | July 16, 2026
Location: Reggat Al Buteen, Deira
A Night Built Around More Than Training
Thursday evenings at RaceMode have become more than just a training session.
They have become a weekly reminder of what happens when people commit, support one another, and continue showing up.
Some stories are measured in kilometers completed, weights lifted, or personal records achieved.
Others are measured in friendships created, challenges overcome, and the confidence that grows when people choose to become better together.
This week's Thursday Bootcamp was one of those stories.
It was an evening that celebrated a birthday, recognized personal achievements, and highlighted the habits that create lasting progress.
A Birthday Celebration, The RaceMode Way
The evening started like any other Thursday Bootcamp.
Athletes arrived after busy days, some coming straight from work, ready to train, challenge themselves, and reconnect with the community.
But this session had something special.
It was Coach Jay's birthday.
Most birthdays are celebrated with candles, cake, and a moment to relax.
At RaceMode, celebrations come with a different challenge.
36 burpees.
One burpee for every year.
The announcement brought laughter and a few playful reactions, but moments later, everyone was on the ground completing the challenge together.
One repetition at a time.
One athlete encouraging another.
One community moving together.
By the final burpee, everyone had earned the celebration.
Because at RaceMode, milestones are not simply recognized.
They are shared.
The Work Continues
The birthday challenge was only the beginning.
With everyone warmed up and energy levels high, athletes moved into three rounds of circuit training, designed to challenge strength, endurance, coordination, and mental toughness.
Every station required focus.
Every repetition required commitment.
But the most impressive part was not only the workout itself.
It was the support between athletes.
A teammate finishing a difficult set was met with encouragement.
Someone pushing through the final repetitions heard support from those around them.
These moments represent what RaceMode is built on.
Because while training develops stronger bodies...
community builds stronger people.
Finishing Strong
The session continued with a focused core workout, followed by stretching and mobility exercises to help athletes recover and prepare for future training.
Recovery is often the part of training that receives the least attention, but it plays an important role in long-term progress.
Improvement does not come from one perfect workout.
It comes from consistently making the right choices over time.
Train.
Recover.
Adapt.
Repeat.
Celebrating The People Behind The Progress
After the final stretch and equipment was packed away, the evening shifted from training to celebration.
At RaceMode, every achievement deserves recognition.
Not only the victories that happen on race day, but also the daily habits, commitment, and discipline that make those moments possible.
This Thursday, three athletes were recognized for representing the values that define our community.
Athlete of the Month
Philip Steven
Great transformations are rarely created overnight.
They are built through small decisions repeated consistently.
Over the past eight weeks, Philip committed himself to becoming healthier, stronger, and more confident.
The result:
13 kilograms lost in 8 weeks
But beyond the number on the scale is the bigger achievement:
A healthier lifestyle.
Greater confidence.
A stronger mindset.
Philip's journey reminds us that lasting change does not come from shortcuts.
It comes from commitment, patience, and trusting the process.
Congratulations, Philip.
Your dedication continues to inspire the RaceMode community.
Discipline Starts Here – 30-Day Challenge
Tin Diaz
At RaceMode, discipline is not measured by one difficult workout.
It is built through the choices we make every day.
The Discipline Starts Here – 30-Day Challenge was created to encourage athletes to focus on accountability, consistency, and building habits that last beyond motivation.
This month's challenge was completed by Tin Diaz, who demonstrated exactly what the challenge represents.
Showing up.
Staying committed.
Choosing discipline over excuses.
Day after day.
The goal was never perfection.
The goal was progress.
Congratulations, Tin.
Your commitment represents the true meaning behind the RaceMode message:
Discipline Starts Here.
Game Changer Award
Raffy Buensuceso
Every community has individuals who quietly raise the standard for everyone around them.
This month's Game Changer Award goes to Api Buen.
Api was recognised for his outstanding consistency, commitment, and positive influence within the group.
Week after week, he arrives on time, gives his best effort, and demonstrates the discipline every athlete strives to develop.
While some people lead through big moments, others lead through their daily actions.
Api shows that consistency is not just a personal achievement.
It inspires everyone around him.
Congratulations, Api.
Thank you for setting the standard and helping strengthen the RaceMode culture.
More Than A Birthday
Coach Jay's birthday celebration was never really about the 36 burpees.
It was about the people who showed up.
The athletes who encouraged each other.
The progress that was celebrated.
The discipline that continues to grow.
Looking around at the end of the session, it was clear that the greatest achievement was not completing another workout.
It was building a community where people feel supported, motivated, and inspired to become better.
That is what RaceMode represents.
Not perfection.
Not comparison.
But progress.
One session.
One habit.
One athlete at a time.
Until Next Thursday
Every Thursday creates a new story.
Some stories are about personal achievements.
Some are about overcoming challenges.
Some begin with 36 birthday burpees.
But every story has one thing in common:
People choosing to show up.
Because at RaceMode, we are not just preparing for the next race.
